Joint with Multi-Range Application SEV 12-36 kV

With the multi-range application joint SEV a joint of the new generation is available combining the advantages of the proven slip-on joint with the extended scope of applicability of a  single insulator to be used for up to five different cross-sections.

The one-piece insulator is made up of three triplex-extruded tubes.

• inner tube for refractive stress control
• insulation of silicone rubber well proven for decades
• conductive tube as outer screening

The insulator is supplied unwidened and will be expanded during installation only as far as required for being pushed onto the cable.

An auxiliary tool to widen the joint body will be used to simplify installation. Both hexagonal sleeves and crewed connectors can be used for the conductor connection. Connections between different cross-sections within one size of the joints are possible without any problems. A wrap of copper braided tape serves as outer screening. The outer mechanical protection is ensured by a heatshrinkable tube. Alternatively a self-adhesive corrosion protection tape is available.

The SEV joint is suitable for 12, 24 or 36 kV XLPE cables. The admissible cross-section range is marked on the insulator.

The multi-range SEV joint meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0278, parts 628 and 629.
