Multi range termination

An outdoor multi range termination for single-core 24-kV XLPE cables. When used on three-core cables, cable breakout is necessary. Special fixing clamps for fastening the cable to pole traverses or supporting structures are available.

Scope of deliveries: One-piece insulating body made of silicone rubber, sealing tube, compression or screw-type cable lugs for conductor and screen, sealing material, earthing clamp, auxiliary material, installation instructions.

Multi-range terminations are terminations provided with one size of insulating body suitable for up to five cable cross-sections and designed for the use of compression-type cable lugs as well as screw-type cable lugs.

The material used for the insulating body has a relatively low Shore A hardness value. This is why the insulating body can easily adapt to any unevenness of the XLPE cable core as it may be caused when fix-bonded insulation screen is stripped off. Stress control is effected by a stress control element integrated into the insulating body, operating on a refractive or geometric principle. Sealing tubes on cable lugs and the upper part of the insulating body protect the conductor against the penetration of moisture. In order to prevent moisture from penetrating beneath the cable sheath via the screen wires as a result of capillary effect, the screen wires are embedded in sealing material underneath the collar of the insulating body. Surface contamination on the termination body, as it inevitably occurs in outdoor installations, lead to leakage currents on the surface. A clamp grounded via two screen wires and sitting on the lower collar ensures controlled transition of these currents to the cable screen.

The outdoor terminations of the SEF and SEHDF series fulfill the requirements of DIN VDE 0278-629-1.
